Text Box: “Let’s not just talk about family values…let’s value families.”
                   				  --Congresswoman Kay Granger
Congresswoman Kay Granger believes government can and should support policies that work with families, not against them.  That’s why she supports health care for patients, including making it more affordable and accessible. “My goal in healthcare reform,” she says, “ is to restore the doctor-patient relationship without dramatically increasing healthcare costs or increasing the number of uninsured.”  To help achieve this goal, Congresswoman Granger has sponsored the SAVE (Securing Access, Value and Equality) Healthcare Act that would provide individuals with pre-payable, fully refundable tax credits toward the purchase of health insurance.  The credit would provide $1,000 for individuals, $2,000 for married couples, and $500 per dependent up to $3,000 per family.
As part of her work to help families, she has been a tireless advocate for solutions to the energy crisis that has burdened Americans with high gas prices and high food prices. This year, Congresswoman Granger spearheaded the American Families Agenda, which offers new ways to help working parents and protect their children and deal with today’s challenges.
As a former teacher, Congresswoman Granger cares passionately about our schools.  Since the Republican Party took control of the House of Representative in 1996, funding for education has tripled.  Congresswoman Granger will continue to support more resources for schools matched by greater accountability.
Families are the foundation of society.  Congresswoman Granger is working hard to keep that foundation strong and secure.
